SOLIDWORKS BRIEF OVERVIEW

SolidWorks is a solid modeling computer-aided design (CAD) program that runs on Microsoft Windows. It uses a parametric feature-based approach to create models and assemblies. The software is parameter driven. Parameters can be either numeric parameters, such as line lengths or circle diameters, or geometric parameters, such as tangent, parallel, concentric, horizontal or vertical, etc. Numeric parameters can be associated with each other through the use of relations, which allow them to capture design intent. SolidWorks helps mechanical engineers design products. It does this by making it easy for the designer to visualize and communicate a 3D concept. The designer can make changes to the design, validate the design against requirements, and prepare the design for production in manufacturing. At Rhematex Consulting our training classes is for SolidWorks users, designers, and engineers. The training class is the first step towards being a proficient SolidWorks user. It covers the core concepts of 3D parametric modeling, part design, assembly creation, and drawing generation. Focus is on capturing design intent to build efficient models that are robust and easily changed as the design evolves.

Pre-requisites:

Knowledge of the Microsoft Windows operating system (Note: This training course is not designed for users of AutoCAD for Mac software)

Course Objectives

SolidWorks Essentials teaches you how to use the SolidWorks mechanical design automation software to build parametric models of parts and assemblies, and how to make drawings of those parts and assemblies.
